NPHI Member CEOs Gather in Washington D.C. for Key Meetings

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI), the national voice for nonprofit advanced illness care, gathered over 110 member CEOs in the nation’s capital this morning to tackle the most pressing challenges in the field. This gathering of leaders from advanced illness programs nationwide will provide a unique opportunity to share best practices, engage with legislative leaders, and shape the future of nonprofit hospice and advanced illness care.

Throughout the two-day event, members will hear from legislative staff, key leaders, and NPHI leadership on topics aimed at driving continuous improvement in patient care.

Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne delivered the opening keynote, emphasizing the critical role of collaboration between local hospice leaders and policymakers. As a staunch advocate for hospice care and a leader in driving federal changes to protect its integrity, she encouraged CEOs to build strong relationships with their local representatives to effect meaningful policy reforms.

By gathering in Washington, D.C., NPHI members have the unique opportunity to visit Capitol Hill to deepen their understanding of the legislative process and forge connections with their local representatives. This engagement is crucial in advocating for the needs of nonprofit providers and ensuring the advancement of policies that enhance care quality and tackle fraud, waste, and abuse.

Tom Koutsoumpas, NPHI CEO, emphasized the importance of NPHI members’ collective action in his opening remarks: “I’m proud to say that here in Washington, our collective voice is being heard, leading to changes that will ultimately benefit millions of patients across the nation.

As leaders in advanced illness, hospice, and palliative care, NPHI and its member CEOs remain united in their commitment to improving care quality, advocating for meaningful policy changes, and addressing the ongoing challenges faced by the healthcare industry.
